So Long etc
I've always promised myself I would never delete my LJ, because I think that is a waste.

I finally just watched the finale of the first season of the Sarah-Jane Adventures! Apparently there's a season two and three, but they aren't available in Australia yet.

I watched the rest of season one back in March, after we bought it for Dad as a late birthday present. I didn't get to watch it until two weeks after we bought it, because Mum and Dad went on a holiday to Perth (they got cheap flights online) a couple of days later and took it with them.

While they were in Perth, they watched the whole series, and thought they brought it all back with them. Unfortunately, they left the last disk in the DVD player in the cabin they were staying in.

When Mum realised this, she contacted the caravan site owner and asked if it was still there. The owner said it was and that he'd send it to us, but there were massive storms in Perth around that time so we think it must have slipped his mind (which is completely understandable).

But a couple of weeks ago Dad went to the library near his work and booked their copy, which was returned yesterday and he picked up today.

I wanted to talk about how I'm always (irrationally) afraid that I'll lose my job, because I don't think I'm very good at it. But it's really hard to actually sit down and articulate why I feel that way, because it really is completely irrational.

Our roster for the next week usually comes out on Thursdays, so when I found out last week that I wasn't going to be working on Thursday or Friday this week, I decided it must be because they didn't want me to see the roster for next week (which would, in my mind, not have me in it).

Then I got called in yesterday (Thursday) because one of the other staff had to take her son to the hospital because he got a pencil stuck up his nose. But the roster still wasn't completed, so I assumed that this was obviously because I was there and they were hiding the roster from me, not because the boss was busy with other stuff and it's not completely uncommon for the roster not to come out until Friday.

A different member of staff was rostered on for this morning, but realised last night that she had something else, so she asked me to fill in for her. This was my first morning shift, so I spent the whole time wondering if I was doing everything all right. I checked for a new roster, even though I knew it wouldn't be there, because the boss left before me yesterday and doesn't come in for the office work until about 10.

After all my self-hating and wallowing in what I could have done better (and a nap, because I'm not used to getting up at 5:30 in the morning), the boss just rang me and told me that I'm working on Tuesday from 2:30 (Monday's a public holiday). I think she said another day as well, but the signal was breaking up so I'm not really sure.

At least, I think she said 2:30. It's unusual to start at 2:30, because none of the kids get there until just after 3. So right now I'm beating myself up over whether she might have said 6:30 (that's the time the mornings start), or whether maybe she wants to talk to me about my performance or something. If I think about it, though, it's probably more likely that I might have to go on the bus run, or set up some stuff, or discuss me going back to TAFE, or any of a million more likely possibilities.

There's a state election happening in just under a month's time and I'm still pretty excited about elections. This will be my first state one (the last one was a few months before my 18th birthday).

I think there's a law here that parties aren't allowed to advertise themselves more than a month before the election, so over the weekend posters started popping up everywhere. On the way to work today, I saw localised electorate posters (with a photo of the local candidate and their name) for Labor (the current government), Liberal (the opposition) and Family First (a minor party who has a few seats in the upper house). I also saw a few posters for the upper house for the Greens and a new party that seems to be running on an anti-abortion platform.

I've been looking at Wikipedia and the ABC websiteto find out who's even running in my elctorate, and apparently there are candidates from Greens SA, Australian Labor Party, Liberal Party, Family First, and Gamers 4 Croydon.

So my job is crap sometimes and sometimes has good moments.

Like, one kid drew me a comic:

I already posted some pictures on my Facebook, but I thought I'd post some video as well, and I don't know how to do that on Facebook (and I can't be bothered finding out).

This is our new foster puppy. I think we're going to call her Bear. She's really underweight (although she doesn't look too bad, because of her long coat) and has a few issues because of that. Anther girl at mum's work was fostering her, along either her two siblings, but apparently they kept beating her up. Also, she eats her own poo, because she was malnourished in earlier life.

I got a job! I found the job ad online on (I think) Friday two weeks ago. I printed it out and showed it to my mum, who rang them up on Monday (because I hate phones). They rang me back later that night and asked me to come in the text day (Tuesday).

So, I got to go swimming and get paid for it on Tuesday! They asked me if I could come in on Thursday or Friday last week, but I had placement for TAFE, so I couldn't. But I did go in on Tuesday and Wednesday this week (Monday was a public holiday) and I got to go see Rockin' Rocky, a children's entertainer I'd never heard of on Tuesday and Up yesterday. It's a great job, although I worked like 9 hours straigh each day.

I keep putting off making a voicepost, but I promise I'll make one soon(ish). There's an Australian number now.

Dalek crossing
That's so weird. I just got a letter in the mail from uni. It starts "Dear Student" and has a little piece of paper attatched that says something about my email inbox being full.

Last time I tried to check my emails (after returning from America), it wouldn't let me. I tried unsucessfully several times over a week or two before I decided that they must have unenrolled me or something because I'd missed a semester.

After getting this letter, I tried accessing my emails again, and it worked first time! I was impressed with myself for remembering my username and password, and started deleting all the emails from "system Administrator" saying that my inbox was full. There was one per day and went for twenty pages - the deleted items folder now says it has 488 items.

There's still fourteen more pages of emails to delete and/or read, but at least they're not all the same.

Yesterday, for my birthday, I got a camera from my parents (which I took plenty of photos of the puppies with and will post later) and Sims 3 from my brother (I don't know whether it's because I haven't downloaded anything yet, or because I'm on a different computer, but it's actually quicker to load for me that Sims 2 was, as well as being pretty damn good). I also got $100 from an aunt in the mail, which is a lot, seeing as we see her maybe once a year now.

I also finally made a Facebook. I've been putting it off and putting it off, but I don't know how else to contact people from summer camp or high school that I never see anymore. I guess I didn't want to make it because I knew I'd become addicted. But it's such an ego-boost when someone adds you!
